Amaranth was inspired by a stunning photograph my sister, Cynthia, took one winter evening in Amaranth, Ontario, Canada. The surreal sunset cast extraordinary colour across the sky, reflecting against the newly fallen snow and transforming the familiar landscape.

I loved exploring those colours, but I was especially drawn to the tree line. I worked with various shades of black on black, finding ways to define each branch without losing the intricate detail or the quiet, majestic presence of the trees.
