Festival of Triangles
Festival of Triangles began with the idea of “gradually, then suddenly”–and became an experiment in seeing where the painting would take me.
It was the first time I used a sponging technique within each individual triangle. Even then, I wanted every triangle to stand on its own different from the one beside it, with its own colour, texture and character while still becoming part of something larger when viewed together.
More than 2,000 hand-painted triangles later, Festival of Triangles was complete–an early exploration of a shape process that would eventually become central to my work.
