This painting was originally titled, In These Covid Times. After a significant bout with COVID, when I was well enough to paint again, I found solace in capturing an almost surreal pre-dusk sunset reflected in the still waters of Spurr Lake, Ontario, Canada.

We had spent time there at a cottage with friends, and as I painted , I found myself reminiscing about happy times, summer gatherings and being together. Eventually, the original title no longer felt quite right.

I renamed it In These Times because, for me, the painting had become less about the difficult period in which it was created and more about the joyful memories, connection and beauty that persists – even through challenging times.
