Inspired by the changing colours of fall while walking through the University of Toronto campus, Leave it Be became a lesson in restraint.
I remember looking at the painting and feeling the urge to keep going–to add more, to keep working on it. But something told me to stop and simply let it be. Sometimes knowing when a painting is finished is as important as knowing where to begin.
The copper tones woven through the deep reds remain one of my favourite parts of this piece, especially when sunlight catches the surface and brings them to life.
