The Crack of Dawn came to life as I was beginning a new chapter in my own life. I didn’t realize when I started painting it just how cathartic the process would be become.

The first rays of sunlight breaking through layers of atmosphere became reflective of where I was at that moment – when darkness begins to lift, light starts to emerge, and possibility takes shape. After more than two decades of a very different journey, I found myself looking back with enormous gratitude for the people, experiences and lessons that had shaped me, while stepping into an exciting future.

Layer by layer, The Crack of Dawn became a painting about transition: grounded in gratitude for what came before, open to change, and hopeful for what lies ahead.
