The Lioness
The name dandelion comes from the French dent-de-lion, meaning “lion’s tooth,” inspired by the jagged edges of its leaves. Often dismissed as a weed, the dandelion is remarkably resilient – pushing through pavement, thriving in poor soil, and returning year after year with bright, defiant blooms.
In The Lioness, the dandelion stands strong within a fractured landscape. Its vibrant yellow flower rises through cracked pavement – a quiet but powerful symbol of resilience, persistence, and the ability to flourish wherever life takes root.
Krista affectionately calls this paintingher "Goldfinch” – a nod to Donna Tartt’s novel The Goldfinch.
