The Quiet Between
Inspired by a photograph my sister took from her porch in Amaranth, The Quiet Between took nearly two months to paint. It came together during a time of significant change and uncertainty, and in many ways, the painting reflects that.
The sky feels restless to me—a beautiful restlessness, filled with shifting triangles and that striking sweep of coral red cutting through the grey. Yet below it, the landscape remains grounded and still. The trees stand quietly against the horizon while the last light settles in the distance.
Perhaps that is what I was looking for while I painted it: the quiet between everything else. A place to breathe, to find my footing, and to keep moving forward—one triangle at a time.
